Internet Counselling and Video Counselling

I now offer an Internet-counselling service where I work with clients either by telephone or web-cam video.

Many of us already use the internet to keep in touch with friends and family.  Using internet or telephone for a counselling session can be valuable when:
  • There are difficulties in accessing a counsellor face-to-face
  • You live in a rural setting and it is too far to travel
  • Illness makes travelling problematic
  • Your occupation frequently takes you away from home making regular sessions difficult

For some people the prospect of sitting in a room opposite a counsellor can be intimidating and the Internet-video or telephone can allow the client to access help while retaining a feeling of safety and perhaps anonymity.

I use all the common technological communications now available, telephone, Skype and Windows Live Messenger.  Sessions my be by video conferencing or simply voice only.  Whichever the client feels more comfortable with.
